Early Life and Education: Mr. Khalid Aziz’s remarkable journey began with a strong educational foundation. He pursued his education in business management from California State University Los Angeles in USA, where he honed his entrepreneurial skills and laid the groundwork for his future endeavors.

Professional Experience before KAR: Our Founder was always an entrepreneur. He successfully started and ran two men’s clothing stores and a convenience store in California, immediately after completing his studies. Not content with this, and to achieve his ambitious dreams, he left California and came to Canada in 2001 to pursue his vision of accomplishing something great.

The Birth of KAR Group: In 2003, armed with a clear vision and an indomitable spirit, Mr. Khalid Aziz founded KAR Group in Western Canada. At the inception of the company, he embarked on a journey that would redefine the business landscape in the region.

A Humble Beginning: KAR Group’s inception was marked by a single fuel station operating under the Petro Canada brand at Okotoks, Alberta. With limited resources but boundless determination, Mr. Khalid Aziz set out to build an enterprise that would stand as a symbol of excellence in the industry.

The Aziz Brothers’ Partnership: A significant turning point in the company’s journey came when Mr. Rashid Aziz, Mr. Khalid Aziz’s brother, left his job in California to join him in Edmonton, Canada. This brotherly partnership brought together a wealth of talent, expertise, and shared commitment to building something exceptional.

Unwavering Dedication and Growth: Both brothers worked tirelessly, applying their combined expertise and unwavering dedication to the company’s growth. With a focus on operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and a commitment to industry best practices, they propelled KAR Group to new heights of success within a remarkably short period. Soon the time came when the network of KAR Group spanning a vast geographical area from White Horse, Yukon in the north to Virden, Manitoba in the east and Prince Rupert, BC in the west while having operational headquarters centralized in Edmonton, Alberta.

Diversification and Expansion: Under the visionary leadership of Mr. Khalid Aziz, KAR Group diversified its business interests significantly. Today, the company’s portfolio includes Retail Management under renowned brands such as Petro Canada & Domo Gasoline. It also extends to the operation of quick-service restaurants as a proud Pizza Pizza franchisee, development of gas stations, and providing consultations to third-party convenience stores. KAR Group is also a proud owner of its own Convenience Brand KIKIT Convenience Store.

Biography

Rashid Aziz, co-owner of KAR Group, embodies an unwavering commitment to investing and believing in people, which has helped him build long-lasting relationships. The cornerstone of his philosophy is creating an environment that is built on trust and collaboration. His leadership style has created a sense of unity and camaraderie amongst his team and this synergy has not only helped drive individuals forward but bring about remarkable success to the collective.


Mr. Aziz started working a at a young age, taking on various jobs such as delivering newspapers and working as a door greeter for a departmental store. These jobs would allow him to support himself throughout the entirety of his undergraduate studies. He graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from California State University, Northridge. Shortly after graduating, he began his professional career as an Application Engineer at an Electrolytic Grounding Company in Torrance, California.


During this time, Mr. Aziz found a mentor whose journey greatly inspired him. This mentor exemplified the belief that anyone, regardless of their background, can achieve their goals through dedication and hard work. This philosophy deeply influenced Mr. Aziz as he moved forward in his career.


In 2007 Mr. Aziz joined his brother Mohammad Khalid Aziz, who was the founder of KAR Group, as a partner. Together, they devoted themselves entirely to the company’s success. Their partnership was characterized by setting ambitious goals and ensuring they were achieved, driven by their determination and shared vision.


Under their leadership, KAR Group has grown to become one of the largest Independent dealers in the Retail Gas Station in Western Canada. The company’s achievements have been recognized within the SUNCOR network through numerous nominations and awards, highlighting their impactful contributions and excellence in their fields.


For Mr. Aziz, life is not just about personal success but also about recognizing and honoring those who have supported along the journey. He believes in the importance of gratitude towards mentors and acknowledges their influence in his own achievements.
